Jo Lyonleader of care ministry

Jo has been actively involved in abortion recovery ministry for a number of years, leading numerous women through various healing Bible Studies.  Jo has  been a volunteer at the Pregnancy Resource Center in Tyler for 7 years where she counseled with young women about their choice to give birth or adoption over abortion. Having received healing and restoration from her own abortion, Jo’s heart and passion is to see women and men receive healing from their past abortion(s). Jo and her husband Jim are faithful members of First Assembly of God, Mineola. Jo has served as Women’s Director and other various areas of ministry in her church. She has had the privilege to serve as a short-term missionary leading abortion recovery studies and training in several foreign countries. Jo was a hairdresser for 35 years before retiring.

Barbara BoboBarb Bobo
Vice President

Barbara serves as Vice President of CARE. She left the workforce in 1998 to become a full time wife, mom and grandmother. She and her husband, Keith are members of Grace Community Church/University Blvd. Campus. Barbara became  passionately involved in abortion recovery after volunteering at the local Pregnancy Resource Center.  Counseling young women on the consequences of abortion and training of volunteers in abortion recovery for 16 years has increased her passion.  She is also the Bible Study Coordinator, as well as the CARE Journey weekend Coordinator for CARE.  Barbara is also a very committed wife to her husband, Keith,  mother to Michael, Mikki and Matthew, two beautiful daughters in law, one wonderful son in law and grandmother to nine of the greatest grandchildren in the world. Her greatest desire is to see men and women that have been wounded by abortion healed and whole. Her life scriptures are Isaiah 61:1-4 and Revelation 12:11.

Avara MahlerAvara Mahler

Avara worked for 18 years in the Tyler retail industry.  Ten of those years she held the position of Manager and Buyer.  She and her husband, Michael, served 13 years as Directors for a Young Married Class at Green Acres Baptist Church. Her passion is facilitating women’s studies with CARE and the church.  She and Michael have 4 sons, 3 daughters-in-love, and 8 grandchildren.

Erma MartinProfile Picture

Erma is retired from Save Our Streets Ministries and has served in women’s ministries for 25 years. Her passion is mentoring young women. She is an active member of First Baptist Church Mixon where she and her husband both lead Bible study classes. Erma and her husband have 3 children and 11 grandchildren.

Earl WaitEarl Waits

Retired CPA & CFO with twenty five years in Manufacturing and Oil & Gas industry. Three years First Lieutenant U.S. Army. Married with two grown children and three grandchildren. Have lived in Tyler three years and on staff and member Pollard United Methodist Church.

Janet Bigej-CerquaJanet Profile

Janet, originally from Oregon, moved to Dallas Texas in 1991 where she continued her professional career as a cardiac nurse. While in Dallas she became involved with two different Crisis Pregnancy Ministries; first, in receiving her own healing for a past abortion and then serving within the centers as a client advocate, RN and a facilitator of bible studies for women experiencing the brokenness of past abortions. In 2012 Janet and her husband David relocated to Lindale and she began enjoying retirement after 40+ years in the medical field. Her passion and desire to continue in the ministry of helping other post abortive women led her to CARE where she will continue to be a part of bringing these women hope, healing and freedom.

Dana FlemingDana Flemming

Dana is a retired educator, with most of her 34 years of service spent in administration. Her roles included Director of the Center for Curriculum Services and Associate Director of Special Services at Region 7 Education Service Center; Special Education Director at Chapel Hill ISD; Special Education Coordinator and Instructional Consultant for Tyler ISD; Educational Diagnostician and teacher at La Porte ISD; and teacher for Pasadena ISD. Dana’s passion is mentoring young women and ministering to men and women experiencing the grief of losing a loved one. She and her husband, Larry, are members of South Spring Baptist Church and have been ministering to young married couples for over 20 years. They have two daughters and sons-in-law and six grandchildren.

Daniel DeslatteDaniel Deslatte

Daniel Deslatte is a healthcare executive focusing on strategic planning, business development, and public policy.  Prior to entering healthcare, Daniel spent nearly a decade in senior level positions in government, focusing on health and human services policy and finance.  He is a frequent presenter throughout the United States on health policy and has been invited to testify before the Texas House of Representatives and Senate on innovations in healthcare delivery and finance.
Daniel holds an undergraduate degree in management and finance and a masters degree in healthcare administration.  He is married and has two young daughters.  Daniel is active in the community and the church, having served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
